La vidéo a été tournée en 2009 au camp de Rivesaltes. Ce camp militaire a servi à différentes dates de lieu d'enfermement et de relégation de populations «indésirables» : centre d'hébergement, d'internement, de rassemblement de républicains espagnols, de juifs et de gitans, centre de séjour surveillé pour collaborateurs, camp de prisonniers de guerre allemands, camp de transit pour harkis, centre de rétention administrative pour étrangers en situation irrégulière. En 1999, il avait réalisé un documentaire sur ce site, "Les pas perdus"*. La structure du montage de ce documentaire reprenait la coupe géomorphologique du relief en cuesta du massif des Corbières surplombant le site. Mettant ainsi en jeu les plissements, les cassures et les chevauchement de couches plus anciennes sur des couches plus récentes, Serge Le Squer exprimait la complexité du lieu et de son histoire. Dix ans après le tournage de cette première vidéo, le lieu a changé peu à peu d'affectation, d'un lieu dédié à l'enfermement et la relégation de population, il devient un lieu de mémoire et de production d'énergie renouvelable : un projet de mémorial du camp est en cours de réalisation, trois nouvelles stèles ont été érigées au bord de la départementale 5 traversant le camp, le centre de rétention administrative a été désaffecté et un parc d'éoliennes a été implanté en bordure du camp.
